OBLIQUE

How do you please
One who says you have no wits
And nothing good can come out of you
Weep and wish with holy rage for a change of heart?
Or live uncertain of the lie that you loudly hear for the truth you quietly seek?

How do you explain?
The death of love once bliss to see
And now stinks of stale betrayal and broken vows
Wait on life for a magic spell to time travel back in past to avert?
Or let your heart rust from vicious vanes of painful denial and tickly itchy revenge?

How do you fathom?
Revered words of the preacher man
When all he faiths are your bag of silver and gold
Kneel at the cross in vain for a salvation buried in hypocrisy?
Or hesitantly whisper the grace in fellowship tongue tied in fearful doubts of worship?

How do you forget?
The uncle’s kiss that tore the skin
And the taunting torture of painful deception
Drown secretly in tears of untold deeds until your soul withers with hate?
Or pluck the sordid tales off the mind and pretend it’s a preview seen at the box office?
To err is human, “to forgive is divine”… Last time I checked, I’m still human fleshed and fleeced
